Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

For me this is a family holiday. I have to admit I love Christmas, but by the time it gets here I am super exhausted and then it passes by so fast that it is kind of a disappointment. Thanksgiving on the other hand is my best holiday. Not a lot of thought into this one, a Turkey, and the fixings. Usually my greatest thought is what kind of dessert I am tasting first! Its filled with lots of family and food. Every year I am thankful that I have my complete family with us still and we can all enjoy a great family day together. I am also grateful for all the new additions that come into our family and this year we are welcoming 3 new people to our Thanksgiving table. I look forward to seeing my sisters that live far away and enjoying the chatter and catching up. I also enjoy that it is usually a long weekend and we can all relax for 3 more days before we have to hurry off to our busy lives on Monday. These are my favorite things about this special day, what is yours!

Your comments are welcome about what you are thankful for about Thanksgiving!

ScrapPink week

Hi ladies. I wanted to let you know about a great week that is being held by many LSS's. It is the ScrapPink week. September 23 - September 29. Money raised by LSS's is being donated to the Susan G. Kormen foundation. At the LSS here in town, I have been asked to organize this week.

We are selling pink ribbons for $1. Each ribbon is in honor of or in memory of a person touched by cancer. We are holding a different class each night for a week, with a portion of each class being donated to the foundation. This week ends with an all day crop on Saturday the 29th. Again, a donation will be made to the foundation for every participant.

I am teaching the Basic Grey layout class. This is one of the layouts we will be doing in class. Hope you like it. Thanks. Anita

Hello Design Team!

Well its Tuesday evening, almost to the middle of the week! I have a question for this week. Here it is:
We all dream, we all wish and we all hope for things to happen in our lives. What is one thing that you dream of in your life that you hope or wish will come true?

New Template Page

I had a file with a bunch of templates that we used for either our kits, something to give away or whatever. Anyway I stuck a page up on Accents 2 Scrapbooking with them on to give away for free. We all love free stuff so here now there is a page with some on it.
I plan to add to it with anything else I might find in files.

Go to:
www.accents2scrapbooking.com/templates.htm to retrieve them.

Have some FUN!

Summer Banner - Use those scraps!

If you are like me, you have containers full of paper scraps and ribbon scraps as well as drawers full leftover pictures from those summertime layouts. Why not put them to good use? Here is a fun and easy project to help use up some of those scraps and create a little home decor item to remind you of all the fun you had this summer. (This isn't just for summer - it can be any season and any theme where you have leftovers)

Materials (feel free to substitute what ever you have on hand)
6 3"x3" Chipboard coasters (you can use any size or just make your own from
cardboard)
Scraps of coordinating patterned paper and card stock
Coordinating embellishments (I used American Crafts plastic flowers,
Doodlebug acrylic blocks, and Heidi Swapp chipboard letters)
Eyelets
Ribbon scraps
Scrapper's Floss or Cording
2" Circle punch
2.5" scallop edge circle punch
Corner rounder
Eyelet setter or Crop-a-dile
Strong adhesive

1. cut patterned paper and card stock into 3" squares - enough to cover the front (and back if desired) of each coaster. Round edges to fit coasters and adhere. If you plan to cover both sides only cover the front in this step.
2. Crop pictures to desired shape and size - I used a 2" circle punch for mine.
3. Cut photo mats to size for focal point photos. I used the 2.5" scalloped circle punch.
4. Adhere all photos and photo mats to the coasters
5. Embellish as desired.
6. Punch 2 holes on either side of each coaster. Match the placement of the holes with the other coasters as best as possible as we will be stringing them together.
7. Set eyelets in each hole.
8. Using floss or cording, tie coasters together.
9. Embellish end coasters with ribbon.
10. Cut 2 equal lengths of ribbon to use as hanging ties. Adhere them to the back of each end coaster with strong adhesive.
11. If you want to cover the backs of your coasters with card stock or patterned paper, adhere it to the backs over the ribbon ties to hide it.

That's all there is to it. Mine ended up on my refrigerator, but I am sure one the fall comes my daughter will steal it to decorate her room. Please feel free to link back here in the comments if you decide to give this a try. I would love to see what you do with it.

I finally scrapped!

Here is a layout from today's scrapping with my mom. I am so tickled to finally be getting something done. Now to finish the NYC album, the 2 theatre albums, the summer layouts and my oldest son's HS album needs to be started. Oh well, I will get there one of these days.

Sunday, August 12, 2007

Ok I had to put one more up, because its cool! Actually I am going to steal this one and create one just like it for Davids ultrasound photo, of course I will have to use blue!

Anyway this one is by Nancy and its one of my favs from this months submissions.
Great job Nancy

OK, so who's the other one?

OK, girls, 'fess up! Who is the other one besides me who does both digital and traditional scrapping?

I discovered digiscrapping last winter when I wanted to scrapbook while traveling...and LOVE it for that reason....also for putting together a layout QUICKLY....at least, quickly when I don't get lost in the digital stores looking at all the goodies they offer!

Inquiring minds wanna know......

Lynda's answers to the question of the week

Question of the Week - August Week 1
Part A
Do you have a subscription to any Scrapbooking or Crafting magazine?
IF so, which one/s? Tell us what you like about the magazines you receive.

I subscribe to Memory Makers, Card Makers, Simple Scrapbooks, and Scrapbook Etc. I used to get a few more, but found the same scrappers were featured over and over...
I have always been a MM subscriber...found their style has changed a bit recently with the new ownership, but have found they seem to have a good variety of techniques but not too trendy. Love Card Makers...used to get CARDS, but can not justify the over $10 an issue price tag for thier magazine...also stopped getting Scrapbook Trends for the same reason (had been a subscriber of theirs from the good old days when they were Ivy Cottage Creations). I like Simple scrapbooks...lots to read in that one...as well as good examples. I also like Scrapbooks Etc. I like the articles in there to on photography.

Part B
What do you do with the magazines after you've read through them?

Now there is the kicker....I used to save them all...why? I haven't a clue, but I have years and years of them all stored neatly in the closet under the stairs. Just recently I have been going through the old issues cutting out the layouts and ideas that I find appealing and putting them into a 3-ring binder. I clip out whole articles when needed and put them in page protectors. It was funny because my dh said...so you are scrapbooking a scrapbooking magazine...hmmm...(as he saw me and my gluestick busy putting my "keepers" onto plain white paper in the binder.

I then pass the rest of the magazine to my girls to cut up for a while...then they go into the recycling.

I found it!!

Woohoo...I found the blog!! Great idea to set this up! I've been lovin' looking at all the blogs you ladies have started! I need to figure out that part next!

Here's my answer to the question...NO...I don't subscribe to any magazines but I sure would save some money if I did! I'm buying them anyway!! I'm usually buying the standards ones...Memory Makers, Creating Keepsakes...but, I also love it when I stumble on some from other countries! Australia has a great one that I love to pick up!

Well that's it for me...I'm just glad that I finally figured out how to find you ladies!! This will be fun!!

Hello from FL -- and Ideas for our New BLOG!

Hi ALL,
Just wanted to drop in and say HI! Great idea to start a blog!

I've been thinking about some ideas for the blog and one idea is to have
a question of the day... or maybe a question of the week.
What do you think? It would be a great way to get to know the Design Team.

Another would be to upload a sketch... maybe one a month... Just for added
inspiration. Then we could all add our layouts of the sketch?

Ok, one more idea. Each month someone would be assigned to do a new technique.
It could be something simple or complex... your choice. We could describe our technique
here and show examples...

Let me know what you think about these ideas. I hope I'm not over stepping my boundaries...

What do you do to get out of the scrapping funk?

Things are slow here in the Themer house, as far as the scrapping goes. I have done one page in two weeks. Just can't seem to wrap my brain around the pictures that are severely piling up here. I am working on cards for Stamp Club and they are finally coming together - it has been several days of working on these mind you. So, my question for each of you is "What do you do to get the ole' Mojo going again?"
Anita

Lovin' the bloggin'

Happy Monday morning everyone!!! Got all my technical issues resolved it seems!!!
This is an exciting new adventure!
Have a great day all!!
